Reflexology is a relaxing and stimulating therapy that uses the feet as a map or mirror to treat the whole body. By manipulating and applying pressure to certain parts of the feet, the whole body can be 're-tuned' and brought back into a state of balance, thus stimulating the body's own healing process. It works on the whole person and not just on one part or particular symptom.
The Benefits of Reflexology include;
- Relieves stress and tension and it is deeply relaxing
- Increases the efficiency of all organs and cells
- Helps to release trapped nervous energy
- Improves waste removal and the elimination of toxins
- Stimulates circulation and boosts energy levels
- Brings the body and mind into a deep sense of calm and well-being
Some of the conditions that can benefit greatly from regular Reflexology are;
- Upper and lower backache
- Arthritis
- Varicose Veins
- High Blood Pressure
- Fluid Retention
- Headaches and Insomnia
- Indigestion, Constipation and IBS
- Sinusitis
- Asthma and breathing difficulties
Please note that some of these conditions may require GP consent, so please advise your therapist of this before your first treatment.
What to expect
Before the treatment, a full consultation is taken so the therapist can access what each individual client needs and decide on the treatment that will work best for them. The feet are massaged before and after the treatment to relax the client and the treatment lasts approx 50 mins. The client may experience tender points on their feet which is perfectly normal and could be the result of energy blockages or sensitive areas within the body.
To get the best results, four to six treatments are recommended.
